Road resurfacing will cause detours from July 20th to 24th
Motorists should expect nighttime traffic disruptions on the A5 motorway next week . Due to road damage, the motorway between the Heppenheim and Hemsbach junctions , heading towards Karlsruhe, will be completely closed from 7 pm to approximately 6 am each night from Monday, July 20th, to Friday, July 24th
According to the Federal Autobahn GmbH, the right lane in this section is damaged and needs to be repaired. The closure only affects traffic heading towards Karlsruhe. Traffic heading towards Frankfurt is not affected.
During the closure, traffic will be diverted off the motorway at the Heppenheim interchange. The diversion route is signposted as U86.
Outside of the nightly full closures, the road generally remains open to traffic. However, traffic will be temporarily reduced to one lane past the construction site to allow the newly laid road surface to cool sufficiently.
Road users should allow more travel time in the evening and night hours and avoid the area as much as possible.
