Action on September 3rd aims to make life more difficult for bicycle thieves – registration required
The police are offering free bicycle coding in Weiterstadt on Thursday, September 3, 2026. The event, organized by the 3rd Police Precinct of Darmstadt, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the office of the local community liaison officer at Darmstädter Straße 32a. Prior registration is required.
Bicycle coding, in addition to a sturdy lock and properly locking the bike, can offer extra protection against theft. This gives the bicycle a unique identifier that makes it easier to trace it back to its owner.
Registration on August 18th and 19th
Appointments for bicycle coding are required in advance. Registrations can be made with Jessica Kugel, local police officer at the 3rd Darmstadt Police Precinct, on Tuesday, August 18th, and Wednesday, August 19th, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. by calling 06151/969-53400 .
To ensure better preparation, please have the required personal information ready when registering. For the appointment itself, you will need to bring an identification document and proof of ownership for the bicycle
According to the police, bicycles with carbon frames cannot be coded.
