"Merida Speeder 200" seized during a check at Luisenplatz
Following the recovery of a bicycle on Luisenplatz, Darmstadt police are searching for the rightful owner and have released a photograph. The bicycle was seized on August 1, 2026, during a routine check of a 37-year-old man. Since previous investigations into its origin have been unsuccessful, the criminal investigation department is now appealing to the public for information.
At approximately 10:45 p.m., a patrol from the 1st Police Precinct stopped the 37-year-old man riding his bicycle in Luisenplatz. According to police, the man could not provide any plausible evidence as to the origin of the bicycle. Investigators are therefore not ruling out the possibility that the bicycle may have been stolen.
Striking green handlebars and multicolored saddle
The seized bicycle is a white "Merida Speeder 200". According to the police, its distinguishing features are a green handlebar and a red, white, and blue Cube brand saddle.
Since previous investigations have not led to clarification of the ownership situation, the police published a photo of the bicycle.
Anyone who recognizes the bicycle or can provide information about its rightful owner is asked the Darmstadt Criminal Police Department (Kommissariat 30) at 06151 969-0 .
