Darmstadt 98 draws 1-1 at Preußen Münster and drops further away points
SV Darmstadt 98 and Preußen Münster drew 1-1 on matchday 33 of the 2. Bundesliga. In their final away game of the season, the Lilies missed out on the hoped-for victory despite playing with a man advantage for around 60 minutes and are still waiting for their first away win. Isac Lidberg scored the equalizer for Darmstadt early in the game.
The hosts from Münster took an early lead after Patric Pfeiffer had to receive treatment off the field, and the home side capitalized on their numerical advantage. Yamada scored after eight minutes to make it 1-0 for Preußen Münster.
However, the response from the team from southern Hesse was swift. After a short back pass, Isac Lidberg reacted quickest, drove decisively into the penalty area, and just seven minutes later calmly slotted home the equalizer to make it 1-1.
Darmstadt held the numerical advantage for much of the game
After nearly half an hour, Münster's Hendrix received a red card for a hard tackle on Killian Corredor. With the man advantage, Darmstadt then completely took control of the match.
The best chance to take the lead came just before halftime: After a quick counter-attack, Corredor was brought down in the penalty area by the goalkeeper. However, Isac Lidberg failed to convert the resulting penalty.
Even after the break, Darmstadt largely dominated the game, but rarely found decisive openings against the deep-lying hosts. Despite their possession and control of the game, the score ultimately remained 1-1.
After the final whistle, Kai Klefisch expressed his disappointment: "It is very bitter that we did not win the game and have not been able to win away from home for so many games."
