On September 10th, Christoph Schütte will speak with author and collector Aldo Frei about the artist's work and legacy
On Thursday, September 10, 2026, an evening dedicated to Dieter Roth focus on the work of the artist, writer, and musician. Starting at 7 p.m., moderator Christoph Schütte will speak with Aldo Frei, author and publisher, a longtime friend of Roth's, and a collector of his artist's books. The venue and location of the event are not specified in this announcement.
Dieter Roth (1930–1998) participated in documenta several times and represented Switzerland at the Venice Biennale in 1968. His work transcended the boundaries between visual art, literature, and music. Roth became known, among other things, for works with ephemeral materials, with which he challenged traditional notions of the permanence of a work of art.
Dieter Roth evening looks back on his legacy
Under the title "When Art Crisis arose," the Dieter Roth evening not focus solely on Roth's artistic work. Christoph Schütte and Aldo Frei also intend to discuss the significance of his legacy in light of current changes in art and culture.
Aldo Frei also brings personal experience to the table: He was friends with Dieter Roth for many years and collected his artists' books.
