The sound station invites you to make music in nature
At the fairytale ponds in the Ober-Beerbach valley in Seeheim-Jugenheim, there is a new attraction for walkers: A forest xylophone invites you not only to hear nature, but also to create sounds yourself.
Instrument made from local woods
The xylophone's bars are made of alder, black locust, maple, birch, and Douglas fir – all tree species that grow in the immediate vicinity. The casing was created as an upcycling project from a discarded hiking sign and was made by employees of the Bergstraße-Odenwald Geo-Nature Park.
The costs for the new forest xylophone were shared by the municipality of Seeheim-Jugenheim and the Bergstraße-Odenwald Geo-Nature Park.
Now the instrument is waiting to be discovered and tried out by visitors around the fairytale ponds.
