Darmstadt concede late goals and miss out on important points
A bitter setback in the promotion race: SV Darmstadt 98 suffered a 2-3 (1-1) defeat at SpVgg Greuther Fürth , conceding the decisive goals in the final stages. This result puts the top spots in the table far out of reach for the Lilies
The match began with an early chance for the hosts, but the best opportunity of the opening phase belonged to the visitors from southern Hesse: Fraser Hornby's lob only found the side netting (11'). Despite a first half with few chances overall, Darmstadt took the lead. After a shot from Kai Klefisch, Isac Lidberg reacted quickest and made it 1-0 (35'). Fürth's response was swift, however: Futkeu converted a penalty to level the score at 1-1 (41').
Late goals against decide the game
After the break, Darmstadt gradually took control of the game, but without creating any clear-cut scoring opportunities. It wasn't until the final stages that they became dangerous again: following a pass from Marco Richter, substitute Yosuke Furukawa scored to make it 2-1 for Darmstadt (77').
But just like in the first half, the lead didn't last long. Futkeu first equalized to 2-2 (85th minute), before scoring again in stoppage time to completely turn the game around (90+4).
For Darmstadt 98, it is a particularly bitter defeat, as they lose important points in the promotion battle.
