Games, fun and first insights into fire protection in Griesheim
Childminders from Griesheim recently enjoyed an exciting and educational outing together with the children they care for during a visit to the Griesheim fire brigade.
The children were thrilled to learn about the work of the fire department and to participate actively. The focus was on play, physical activity, and gaining initial experience related to fire safety.
A small fire extinguishing drill sparks enthusiasm
A child-friendly firefighting exercise, prepared by equipment manager Kevin Lichtnau and volunteer Luisa Hofmann, was a particular highlight. The children were allowed to extinguish a small "fire" themselves and learned in a playful way how important quick action and teamwork are during fire department operations.
Through hands-on participation, the basic principles of fire safety were taught in an age-appropriate manner.
Firefighter Bobby Cars as a crowd-puller
Another highlight of the visit was the variety of Bobby Cars, including models with a fire engine design. The children used them to explore the fire station's forecourt and act out their own little firefighting missions.
The vehicles caused a lot of activity and brought smiles to many faces.
Valuable experiences for the children
According to Christina Weiner, the city of Griesheim's contact person for childcare, the visit was a complete success.
In addition to the shared experience, the children took home many new impressions and were able to gather initial important knowledge about the work of the fire brigade and the topic of fire protection.
