Online event for the Heatwave Action Day on June 11th
To mark the nationwide Heat Action Day on Thursday, June 11, 2026, the Groß-Gerau district invites you to a free online information event on the topic of heat protection. The event will take place from 7 pm to 8 pm and is aimed at all interested citizens.
The reason for this is the increasing number of hot days and prolonged dry periods, which are becoming ever more noticeable in the Groß-Gerau district. Older people, children, the chronically ill, and those requiring care are considered particularly at risk when temperatures rise sharply for extended periods.
Information on the heat action plan
The event will focus on the heat action plan, which was developed jointly by the district, cities, and municipalities. Representatives from the responsible project group will explain which measures have already been implemented and how the population can better prepare for heat waves.
Tips for everyday life in high temperatures
Participants will receive practical advice on dealing with heat. Topics covered in the event include the health effects of high temperatures, protective measures for particularly vulnerable individuals, behavioral tips for hot days, and existing warning systems and information resources.
Furthermore, municipal measures being implemented in the Groß-Gerau district as well as in the towns and municipalities to protect the population will be presented.
Free participation
Participation in the online event is free.
Further information and access data are available on the Groß-Gerau district's heat portal.
