The district administration will be exhibiting works by Julia Volker from June 9th
The Wixhausen district administration invites you to the opening of a new art exhibition on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Starting at 7 p.m., the artist Julia Volker will present her work under the pseudonym "Samy" in the district administration's offices at Falltorstraße 11.
The opening will be inaugurated by City Councillor Michael Siebel. Britt Baumann, Head of the Cultural Office of the City of Darmstadt, will also be in attendance.
Artist with diverse styles
Julia Volker has been involved with painting since childhood. She received artistic inspiration from her grandfather and an art teacher at a Frankfurt high school, among others. Later, she studied at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.
Her artistic range extends from comics and manga to photorealistic depictions. She has a particular focus on nature motifs, especially insects, which she renders with great attention to detail and technical precision.
Technology and precision are the focus
The artist describes herself more as a craftswoman than a classical artist. Her work focuses on precise technique and the most realistic possible depiction of her subjects.
She particularly enjoys working with acrylic paints and epoxy resin. The color blue plays an important role in her work and is found in many of her pieces.
Art meets administration
With this exhibition, the Wixhausen district administration building once again becomes a meeting place for art and the public. Where administrative matters are normally handled, space is created for culture, exchange, and discussions about art for a limited time.
Interested citizens are invited to visit the exhibition and talk to the artist.
