Seeheim-Jugenheim reminds residents of the need for clear sidewalks and roads, as well as the obligation to regularly clean the streets
The municipality of Seeheim-Jugenheim reminds property owners to regularly trim overhanging branches, shrubs, and hedges along streets and sidewalks. Plants must not obstruct public traffic areas. Furthermore, residents have obligations regarding the cleaning of adjacent traffic areas.
Overhanging vegetation can be particularly problematic on sidewalks, especially when pedestrians have to move aside. According to the municipality, trimming must generally be done right up to the property line.
Keep traffic signs and streetlights clear
When pruning, care must be taken to ensure that streetlights and traffic signs are not obscured by plants. Emergency vehicles and garbage trucks must also be able to pass through the streets unimpeded.
A so-called clearance profile must be maintained. A clearance of 2.50 meters must be maintained above sidewalks and 4.50 meters above roadways
In this context, the municipality refers to Section 27 Paragraph 5 of the Hessian Road Act.
Street cleaning is also among the duties
In addition to pruning plants, property owners are also obligated under the municipality's street cleaning regulations to regularly clean certain public areas.
According to the municipality, this affects roads, cycle paths and footpaths, parking spaces and street gutters, each to the width of the adjacent property.
