Following the merger of the three districts, five volunteer positions need to be filled
The district town of Groß-Gerau is seeking five volunteer members for the newly formed local court district. Specifically, they are looking for a presiding judge, a deputy presiding judge, and three lay judges. Applications are accepted until September 30, 2026 .
The background to this is the merger of the three existing local court districts: Groß-Gerau I (comprising Groß-Gerau, Berkach, and Dornberg), Groß-Gerau II (comprising Dornheim), and Groß-Gerau III (comprising Wallerstädten). The city council voted in favor of a single district on June 23.
Five volunteer positions to be filled
According to the city, it had recently become increasingly difficult to find enough applicants to fill positions at three separate local courts.
The members of the new local court are elected by the city council for a ten-year term and subsequently appointed by the president of the Groß-Gerau district court. Their service is voluntary.
Local courts are auxiliary bodies of the judiciary. Their tasks include, among other things, the authentication of signatures and copies, notification of deaths to the district court, and the securing of estates. They also participate in the establishment and maintenance of property boundaries and conduct appraisals of developed and undeveloped land.
Applicants must live in Groß-Gerau
People who live in Groß-Gerau or one of its districts are eligible to apply. Excluded are, among others, individuals who are licensed as lawyers or notaries, or who professionally handle legal matters for others.
According to the city, experience in the valuation of land and real estate is advantageous.
