A vocal ensemble, piano accompaniment and biographical texts will shape “Culture on Friday Evening” on November 6th.
An evening dedicated to Paul Gerhardt awaits the audience on Friday, November 6, 2026, at the Protestant community center in Jugenheim, Lindenstraße 6. Starting at 7:30 p.m., the life of the theologian and hymn writer, as well as his hymns, will be the focus. The Church and Culture Working Group and the Friends of Jugenheim Mountain Church extend an invitation to this event as part of the "Culture on Friday Evening" series.
In the foreword to the choir project, Peter Krausch and Fabian Vogt write about Paul Gerhardt: “In his time, he was a pop star. Paul Gerhardt, whose songs are still sung all over the world today…and who passionately extols the beauty of life and faith…even though he lived in one of the darkest periods of history – during the Thirty Years' War.”
Paul Gerhardt in new musical arrangements
The program includes excerpts from the choral project "Meines Herzens Lust" (My Heart's Delight) with lyrics by Fabian Vogt and arrangements by Peter Krausch. These arrangements combine traditional melodies with 21st-century musical forms. The three- and four-part choral pieces incorporate elements of rock, pop, swing, and samba, among others.
Monika Hölzle-Wiesen directs the small vocal ensemble. Anna-Maria Klingmann accompanies them on the piano. Claudia Müller-Eberle recounts the eventful life of Paul Gerhardt, who lived from 1607 to 1676. Additional texts complement the musical program, which centers around his songs of hope and confidence.
