The Parks Department offers tips for insect-friendly gardens
The Darmstadt Parks Department is offering two guided tours on the topic of "Perennials for dry locations" at Rosenhöhe Darmstadt in June and July.
Tips for hot and dry summers
The guided tours will take place on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 2 p.m. and on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at 10 a.m.
The focus is on designing perennial beds with drought-tolerant and insect-friendly plants. The Parks and Green Spaces Department explains how attractive and low-maintenance areas can be created through the right plant selection and bed preparation.
Practical tips will also be provided for private home gardens, enabling the creation of colorful and ecologically valuable plantings despite hot summers.
Meeting point at the Rosarium
The meeting point is the entrance to the rose garden on Ludwig-Engel-Weg. The tour lasts approximately one and a half hours.
Participation is free of charge. As the group size is limited to 15 people, the Parks and Green Spaces Department requests registration by calling 06151/13-2900.
