An event at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences in Hesse highlights current developments in refugee aid
The Protestant Deanery of Darmstadt, the Protestant University of Applied Sciences of Hesse, and the Darmstadt Volunteer Center invite you to a public panel discussion on current refugee policy on Thursday, June 18, 2026. The event, titled "The tone is becoming harsher in refugee policy…", will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Protestant University of Applied Sciences of Hesse, located at Zweifalltorweg 12 in Darmstadt.
Impact of current refugee policy
The evening will focus on current developments in refugee policy at the federal and state levels. Discussions will center on the impact of political decisions on people seeking protection in Germany, as well as the consequences for practical work in refugee aid.
The organizers want to create space for a critical assessment and the exchange of different perspectives.

The discussion includes representatives from media, science, social associations, and people with refugee or migration experience from Darmstadt and the region.

- Lea Rosenberg, advisor for refugees, asylum and migration at the Paritätische Hessen (a social welfare organization)
- People with a migration background from Darmstadt and the surrounding area
- Prof. Dr. Marga Günther, Professor of Social Work at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Hesse
