Construction work and the use of mobile cranes are causing restrictions in the city area
Motorists in Weiterstadt should expect several construction sites and road closures in the coming weeks. The affected streets are Rudolf-Diesel-Straße, Schillerstraße, Otto-Wels-Straße, and Kirchstraße.
Construction work has been underway on Rudolf-Diesel-Straße since August 3rd . The section between house numbers 10 and 12, near the fire station, will be partially closed until approximately August 14th . During the construction, the existing traffic lights at the Brunnenweg intersection will be replaced by temporary traffic signals. All traffic movements will remain unaffected. The "Feuerwehr" bus stop, in the direction of Weiterstadt/Groß-Gerau, has been temporarily relocated opposite house number 15.
On Tuesday, August 11th , Schillerstrasse will also be completely closed at house number 10 due to the use of a mobile crane.
Also starting August 10th, sewer renewal work will begin on Kirchstraße. For this purpose, the section between house number 11 and Kreuzstraße will be completely closed until approximately September 25th . According to the city, waste disposal will remain unaffected: garbage cans and yellow recycling bags can be placed in front of houses as usual. The contracted company will collect them on the designated collection days at the corner of Kreuzstraße and Kirchstraße, and at the corner of Darmstädter Straße and Kirchstraße, respectively.
Another complete closure affects the Otto-Wels-Straße/Kreuzstraße level crossing. Due to work to eliminate a hazard in the track area, the crossing will be completely closed from Saturday, August 15, at 7 p.m. until Monday, August 17, at 8 p.m.This also applies to pedestrians and cyclists. A detour will be signposted.
The city of Weiterstadt asks all road users for their understanding and recommends allowing more travel time during the aforementioned periods.
