Griesheim will vote by postal ballot from October 9th to November 6th – candidates will be presented on September 30th at the town hall
Sixteen candidates are running for the 2026 Senior Citizens' Advisory Council election in Griesheim . Eight women and eight men submitted their applications by the deadline. The election will be held entirely by mail from October 9 to November 6, 2026. Interested residents can meet the candidates at an information session in the town hall beforehand. The city has confirmed both the 16 valid applications and the election period.
The candidate presentations will take place on Wednesday, September 30, starting at 4 p.m. in meeting room C of the Griesheim town hall . Mayor Geza Krebs-Wetzl invites everyone to come and talk with the candidates. The city will also provide information about the procedures for the senior citizens' advisory council election and postal voting.
The senior citizens' advisory board has a maximum of 15 members
The Senior Citizens' Advisory Council represents the interests of Griesheim's older residents. It can submit statements, proposals, motions, and inquiries to the City Council on matters affecting senior citizens. The council consists of a maximum of 15 members.
This means that in this year's election, there are 16 candidates vying for a maximum of 15 seats. Eligible voters have a maximum of 15 votes, with only one vote allowed per candidate.
Voting exclusively by mail
Residents who have reached the age of 60 on election day and have had their primary residence in Griesheim for at least six weeks are eligible to vote. The election will be conducted exclusively by mail. After receiving the voter notification, voting materials can be requested; alternatively, voting can be done in person at the town hall.
