Program from June to September in approximately 80 cities and municipalities
The South Hesse Cultural Summer enters its 33rd season in 2026 and once again offers an extensive cultural program in the region. From June to the end of September, more than 360 events are scheduled in around 80 cities and towns.
The newly printed events calendar will be available from the beginning of May in numerous public institutions, including town halls and tourist information centers. The program is also available online and is continuously updated.
Opening event at the Michelstadt Music Night
The official opening will take place on June 20, 2026, as part of the Michelstadt Music Night in Michelstadt. Numerous artists will provide a resounding start to the cultural summer on various stages in the historic old town.
Wide range of cultural offerings throughout the region
The program covers a wide range of cultural genres. In addition to concerts spanning classical, jazz, pop, and rock music, it also includes theater, street theater, cabaret, readings, and exhibitions. The offerings are complemented by innovative and interdisciplinary formats at various venues.
Offers for children and young people
A special focus is placed on the "Young KUSS" program. Around 30 projects are specifically aimed at children, young people, and families. Workshops, festivals, and interactive formats are designed to encourage active participation and promote cultural education.
Closing event with open studios
The cultural summer traditionally concludes with the "Open Studio Days" on September 26th and 27th, 2026. Throughout southern Hesse, numerous artists open their studios and offer insights into their creative processes. Visitors can discover various art forms and, in some cases, even participate themselves.
