SV Darmstadt 98 will visit its sister city in Texas and meet cooperation partner San Antonio FC on September 29th
SV Darmstadt 98 will travel to San Antonio from September 25th to October 1st, 2026.The highlight of their stay in Darmstadt's twin city will be a friendly match against San Antonio FC on Tuesday, September 29th. The Lilies are taking advantage of the combined international break in September and October for this previously announced trip.
In addition to the team, a delegation from the SV 98 board and management will also travel to Texas. During their stay, various other appointments and events are planned besides the friendly match.
Cooperation between Darmstadt and San Antonio
SV Darmstadt 98 and San Antonio FC have been working together for about two years. According to the club, the cooperation, which was originally focused on sports, has since been expanded to include economic and social projects.
“We are delighted that both teams will now meet in a literal friendly match,” says SV98 President Markus Pfitzner. He had already witnessed the development of the relationship between the two cities and their partners during a delegation trip in March.
The main partner of SV 98's USA trip is the fusion energy company Focused Energy, which is a premium partner of the Lilies.
The city of Darmstadt is planning a parallel business trip
The Lilies' visit coincides with a trip by the science city of Darmstadt. A business trip to San Antonio, led by Mayor Hanno Benz, is scheduled from September 27th to October 1st
Pfitzner sees this as an opportunity to further develop the contacts between the two twin cities beyond sports. The friendly match is intended to be a joint event in this process.
