SV Darmstadt 98 completes new building at youth performance center – city and state contribute to the financing
SV Darmstadt 98 has completed its new functional building at the Merck youth performance center on Kastanienallee. The two-story building provides additional changing rooms as well as office, administrative, and meeting rooms for the youth department of the second-division football club.
Spread across two floors, the youth players have access to a total of seven changing rooms with showers and sanitary facilities . In addition, there are new workspaces for coaches and staff of the youth performance center (NLZ).
The building was constructed using modular construction methods. A photovoltaic system is to be installed on the roof in the coming months.
Total costs approximately 1.75 million euros
According to SV 98, the total cost for the new functional building amounts to approximately €1.75 million net. Part of this is financed by public funding.
The city of Darmstadt is contributing €609,000, and the state of Hesse €200,000. A further €19,500 is coming from the Hessian State Sports Federation. This brings the total funding to €828,500. SV Darmstadt 98 will finance the remaining share through its own funds and external financing, according to the club.
Pfitzner: “An important step for our youth development program”
SV98 President Markus Pfitzner described the completion as "an important step for the further development of our youth academy." The aim is to offer young players modern facilities and coaches and staff suitable conditions for their daily work.
Mayor Hanno Benz pointed to the city's financial support. "Therefore, we are pleased to contribute to further improving the club's youth development program with our funding," Benz explained.
