CDU members support the "A bank for Riedstadt" campaign
Those traveling on foot or by bicycle along Oppenheimer Straße in Wolfskehlen will soon find a new opportunity for a short break. A bench has been installed in the industrial park, intended to make the route between the town center and the shopping centers more pleasant.
The bench was donated by members of the CDU Riedstadt as part of the "A Bench for Riedstadt" campaign. The new seating was unveiled at a site visit with Mayor Marcus Kretschmann, Sustainability Manager Sandra Seum, and representatives of the CDU.
Rest area on a heavily used route
The pedestrian and cycle path along Oppenheimer Straße is used by many residents of Wolfskehlen. Because the route is relatively long, the city and the CDU have repeatedly been asked for seating.
As CDU parliamentary group chairman Michael Fraikin explained, this gave rise to the idea of donating the bench and thus making a concrete contribution to the quality of life in the district.
Bank number 568 in Riedstadt
The cost for the bench, including foundation and installation, amounts to approximately 1,000 euros.
With the new seating, the town of Riedstadt, known for its association with Büchner, now has a total of 568 public benches. According to the town, the environmental department, commissioned by the town council, recorded and documented all the locations.
The overview can be accessed via the city's geoportal and the "Climate-friendly Riedstadt" platform.
The campaign aims to attract more donors
Mayor Marcus Kretschmann welcomed the initiative and pointed out that the numerous seating options are unevenly distributed throughout the city. While there are usually many benches in the town centers, other areas are currently less well-equipped.
With the "A bench for Riedstadt" campaign, the city therefore wants to motivate more citizens, associations or companies to finance additional seating.
City is examining suitable locations
Anyone wishing to donate a bench can contact the environmental department of the city of Riedstadt. They will assess the suitability of the proposed location and determine what requirements must be met for installation.
The contact person is sustainability manager Sandra Seum.
