The Darmstadt-Dieburg Dementia Network is accompanying World Alzheimer's Day with events in the district – Griesheim is participating
Under the motto "Dementia – (Not) a Question of Age," will take place on September 21, 2026. The Darmstadt-Dieburg Dementia Network will accompany the day of action with a series of events in the district. The town of Griesheim is also participating in the program.
This year's World Alzheimer's Day aims to raise awareness that dementia does not exclusively affect elderly people. It also seeks to inform the public about the living situations of those affected and their families, and to highlight opportunities for social participation.
Offers in several municipalities
Under the title "Living with Dementia," the Darmstadt-Dieburg Dementia Network is offering events in various municipalities of the district during September and beyond. The program includes lectures, information sessions, and opportunities for interaction and participation.
This includes topics such as exercise, music and dance, nutrition, humor, preventative care, and support options in everyday life.
Griesheim is also part of the joint campaign. Together with other municipalities, events have been developed under the motto "Participate, Understand, Experience" . These events aim to provide information about living with dementia, reduce anxieties about interacting with people with dementia, and facilitate encounters.
Information and advice on dementia
Dementia can impair abilities and memory, significantly altering the daily lives of those affected and their families. Therefore, the network aims not only to provide information about the disease but also to raise awareness of available counseling and support services.
The Darmstadt-Dieburg Dementia Network brings together stakeholders from various fields. Its key areas of focus include providing information, advice, and networking opportunities, as well as promoting the social inclusion of people with dementia and their families.
