A painting event announces World Children's Day on September 20th in downtown Darmstadt
In the lead-up to World Children's Day in Darmstadt, children and young people are decorating several billboards throughout the city. From September 13th to 16th, 2026, various groups will paint six advertising spaces to draw attention to the event on September 20th.
World Children's Day will take place on Sunday, September 20th, in the market square, the Peace Square, and in Darmstadt's city center. This year's motto is "Strong Children – Strong Future!"
Six billboards will be designed
The poster mural project is being organized by the Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) Darmstadt. Six poster sites belonging to Ströer Deutsche Städte Medien GmbH have been rented for this purpose and will be designed by different children's and youth groups.
The aim is to involve children in promoting World Children's Day from the outset. "It is important to us to involve children and young people in the planning of this special day at an early stage," explains Michael Lindner, youth education officer and managing director of the BDKJ Darmstadt.
At the same time, the designed billboards are intended to draw attention to World Children's Day and its program in Darmstadt's city center.
