Networking meeting with a view to the 2026 local elections
Alliances against right-wing extremism in southern Hesse met for a networking event at the Groß-Gerau district administration office in mid-January. The event was hosted by the Groß-Gerau district 's office for combating right-wing extremism and racism , which also serves as the coordinating body for the district-wide network against right-wing extremism and racism.
The South Hessian Alliances Against the Right Wing form a working group that meets several times a year, with each meeting taking place at the home of a different member organization. Since the most recent meeting was held in Groß-Gerau, local alliance partners such as the " Grandmothers Against the Right Wing" in Groß-Gerau and the Groß-Gerau district branch of the GEW (Education and Science Workers' Union) participated.
Exchange and coordination of joint actions
The participating alliances in the working group regularly exchange information about right-wing extremist, fascist, anti-Semitic, and racist incidents. They also coordinate actions and share experiences and strategies. The networking meeting on January 13th focused particularly on the upcoming local elections on March 15, 2026. The alliances informed each other about planned activities surrounding the election date.
Joint flyer to strengthen democracy
Over the past few months, the South Hessian alliances against right-wing extremism have been working together on an informational flyer. This flyer has now been released for distribution and is available for download on the website of the Groß-Gerau district's office for combating right-wing extremism and racism. Starting next week, the flyer will also be available in printed form and can be ordered from the office while supplies last.
The aim of this joint public relations campaign is to motivate people to participate in the election, strengthen democracy, and simultaneously raise awareness of the dangers of right-wing extremism. The flyer encourages people to critically examine election manifestos and to support democratic and human rights-oriented parties.
Extensive network in southern Hesse
The working group of the South Hessian Alliances Against the Right includes initiatives and networks from several districts and cities, including alliances from the Bergstraße district, the Odenwald district, Offenbach, Darmstadt, the Darmstadt-Dieburg district, and the Groß-Gerau district. Trade unions and civil society organizations are also part of the network.
