Reinheim's outdoor swimming pool opens for the sixth time to four-legged friends on September 6th – admission costs 50 cents per foot and paw
After the end of the regular outdoor swimming season, the Reinheim outdoor pool will once again belong to four-legged friends: On Sunday, September 6, 2026, the popular dog swimming day will take place there for the sixth time. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., dogs and their owners can spend a special day at the outdoor pool.
The last regular swimming day is Monday, August 31st. This means the outdoor swimming season in Reinheim ends somewhat earlier this year than in previous years. A few days later, it's "water on!" one last time – but primarily for dogs.
"Our dog swimming day has become a lovely tradition. After the regular outdoor pool season ends, dogs are allowed to splash around to their heart's content one last time," says Mayor Manuel Feick. He added that they are looking forward to welcoming many two- and four-legged friends to spend the day together at the outdoor pool.
The swimming and diving pools belong to the dogs
Special rules apply for dog swimming day. In the non-swimmer area, people and animals may be in the water together. The swimming and diving pools, however, are reserved exclusively for dogs.
The entrance fee is again 50 cents per foot and paw this year . No prior registration is required.
A valid rabies vaccination for the dog is required for entry. The animal must also have a current dog tag and may not be left unattended during the event.
The organizers also recommend gradually acclimating dogs to the cold water to avoid temperature shock. They should not swim on a full stomach and should not overexert themselves in the water. After swimming, the animals should be thoroughly dried.
