Creative activities, performances and parties for girls and young women aged 14 and over
With "Girls in Action," the Girls' Working Group (M*AK) of the City of Science Darmstadt is organizing an afternoon and evening of activities for girls and young women aged 14 and up on Saturday, September 12, 2026. From 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., the program includes creative and participatory activities, an open stage, and a party to conclude the event.
The event is organized as part of the gender-specific work of the youth welfare office's child and youth services. Participants include professionals working with girls from municipal institutions and independent organizations, as well as young women volunteering their time.
From screen printing to the open stage
From 3 p.m. onwards, participants can try out various activities. These include henna tattoos and screen printing.
At 7 p.m., following a welcome address by Mayor Barbara Akdeniz, the open stage begins. Girls and young women can present their own performances there. These could include singing, dancing, or poetry slam; other performances are also welcome.
Anyone who would like to perform on stage can register in advance by email at maedchenarbeitskreis@darmstadt.de .
The program concludes at 8 p.m. with a party and DJ. Food will be provided free of charge for attendees.
Akdeniz acknowledges commitment
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz particularly emphasizes the opportunities for young women to participate. "Girls in Action is proof year after year of how much energy, creativity and solidarity arises when girls and young women create a space that belongs to them," said Akdeniz.
