Certificates of honor and honorary plaques were awarded after the last city council meeting
Following the final meeting of the city council for this legislative period, several local politicians in Riedstadt were honored for their many years of voluntary service. The awards ceremony took place on Thursday evening, March 5, after the 39th session of the city council in the Heinrich-Bonn-Halle.
Marcus Kretschmann and First City Councillor Ottmar Eberling presented certificates of honor and honorary plaques on behalf of the city to local politicians who have been involved in city committees for many years.

The following individuals received the city's certificate of honor for at least ten years of voluntary service in local political bodies:

Melanie Dörr and Matthias Lachmann (CDU) received the silver honorary plaque for at least 20 years of local political work.
The gold honorary plaque for at least 25 years of voluntary service went to Heiko Büßer and Michael Fraikin (CDU), Ottmar Eberling and Matthias Thurn (SPD) and Frank Fischer (FW).
Looking back on five years of the legislative period
Previously, Guido Funk, as chairman of the city council, had looked back on the past legislative period. It had been marked by numerous crises, including the Corona pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and the discussions about energy supply and road construction fees.
Funk highlighted the positive fact that all 39 meetings of the city council had remained within the scheduled timeframe and no meeting had to be extended. Two council members had attended all meetings, and six others had missed only one.
In closing, the chairman of the city council thanked the parliamentary office, the building yard and the administrative staff for their support in organizing the meetings.
