Many helpers pitch in – butterflies are released into the wild together
With everyone pitching in, the outdoor area of the Sonnenschein daycare center was prepared for summer. On a traditional garden clean-up day, numerous families and the daycare team came together on a Saturday morning to plant, repair, and redesign the garden.
The project was also supported by numerous donations. In addition to soil, wood, and other materials for equipping the workshop container, the daycare center also received plants grown by the children themselves. The center expressed its special thanks to Bärbel Fischer and all other supporters.
Kindergarten director Melanie Strasser was delighted with the great commitment: Together, repairs were carried out, old things were disposed of, new areas were created and the outdoor area was brought back up to scratch.
Vegetables, flowers and habitat for insects
During the work session, vegetables, strawberry plants, and flowers were planted, among other things. A wildflower meadow was also newly sown. In addition, the garden was tidied up, sorted, and cleaned so that the children can make full use of it again during the summer months.

To conclude the Garden Fitness Day, a special experience awaited all participants: butterflies, which had moved into the daycare center as caterpillars a few weeks earlier and could be observed growing there, were released together.
“We released them from the butterfly net together. At first, they were reluctant, but after a short while, they set off,” reports Melanie Strasser. As a souvenir, each family received an insect waterer in the shape of a butterfly.
After a hard day's work, the volunteers enjoyed a buffet together to round off the day. "Many thanks to the dedicated Sonnenschein team and the many hardworking families who, with their efforts, have prepared the outdoor area so well for the children in preparation for the coming summer," said the kindergarten director.
