Volunteer agency seeks volunteers to provide support in everyday life
The Weiterstadt Volunteer Agency (WEA) is further expanding its municipal neighborhood assistance program and is now looking for citizens who would like to volunteer and support people in their daily lives.
WEA provided a first public glimpse into the project at the town center festival on June 20th. There, the project group presented the planned neighborhood support program and gathered suggestions and feedback from the community. According to the volunteer agency, this feedback was incorporated into the further development of the program.
There are many ways to get involved as a volunteer. We are looking for people who can, for example, provide companionship, offer transportation, help with shopping or forms, offer support with digital issues, or simply spend time together for walks and conversations. Small tasks around the house, garden, or pets, as well as simple handyman jobs, are also welcome.
A special feature of the project is the combination of personal support and digital organization. Before the first assignment, an introductory meeting takes place in which the volunteers receive information about the process and how to use the neighborhood help app. Afterwards, they can decide for themselves when, how often, and within what radius they would like to offer help.
Initially, the appeal is aimed exclusively at people who wish to volunteer. As soon as enough volunteers have been found, the offer will also be opened to citizens who need support in their daily lives.
