Galerie Netuschil presents the exhibition “On Bird Wings”
The Netuschil Gallery in Darmstadt will be dedicated to an exciting cultural dialogue between Asia and Europe in the summer of 2026.
Under the title "On Bird's Wings – Female Artists Between Worlds," works by seven female artists from China, South Korea, and Japan will be presented. The exhibition opens on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. and will be on display until August 1, 2026 .
The exhibition features paintings, sculptures, and installations by Chunqing Huang, Ning Yang, Eun-Joo Shin, Heryun Kim, Min Clara Kim, Miye Lee, and Zero Reiko Ishihara. Many of these artists began their studies in their countries of origin and later continued their training in Europe or Germany. This has resulted in artistic positions that mediate between Eastern and Western influences, connecting both worlds.
The exhibition explores the tension between cultural heritage, new home, and artistic identity. It focuses on individual visual languages and the question of how diverse cultural experiences can be expressed in contemporary art.
Miye Lee, a South Korean artist living in Vienna, works with intensely colored, ornamental abstractions. Zero Reiko Ishihara develops ceramic beings that spread organically through space. The works of Heryun Kim and Chunqing Huang explore serial and gestural structures, while Eun-Joo Shin makes inner worlds of experience visible in transparent oil paintings. Min Clara Kim combines materials from Asian cultures, such as fabric, paper, and ceramics, with contemporary painting. Finally, the Chinese artist Ning Yang creates floating, iridescent spatial effects with her installation "Twilight Shimmer."
To accompany the exhibition, Galerie Netuschil is planning artist talks, guided tours, musical events, and performance evenings. Further information is available at www.galerie-netuschil.net
