Music students and amateur musicians present works by Bruch and Mendelssohn; admission is free
An orchestral project will perform on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 5 p.m. in St. George's Catholic Church in Darmstadt-Eberstadt . The program includes Max Bruch's Double Concerto for Clarinet and Viola and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Symphony No. 3. Admission is free; donations are welcome.
The Eberstadt Catholic parishes' working group for church music invites you to a concert at Stockhausenweg 50. The current orchestral project of the Frankfurt Project Ensemble will be performing. The ensemble consists of music students and amateur musicians from the Rhine-Main region. Lukas Köhs will be conducting.
Double Concerto by Max Bruch
The first part of the program is Max Bruch's Double Concerto for Clarinet and Viola. The work combines the two solo instruments with an orchestra and is one of Bruch's less frequently performed compositions.
The solo parts will be performed by Sarah Lindner on clarinet and Frauke Thomsen on viola. According to the organizer, both are studying for their bachelor's degree at the Darmstadt Academy of Music.
Mendelssohn's "Scottish"
The orchestra will then perform Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Third Symphony. Impressions from the composer's trip to Scotland influenced the creation of the work, which is often known today as the "Scottish." According to the organizers, however, this designation was not authorized by Mendelssohn himself.
The orchestra project is funded by the Dotter Foundation.
