48 participants experience Steckeschlääfer Klamm, Rhine views and suspension bridge
The most recent hike organized by the Odenwald Club Groß-Gerau led 48 hiking enthusiasts into the Binger Forest – with a varied route, magnificent views, and a touch of mysticism. One of the destinations was the Steckeschlääfer Klamm, a gorge with carved ghost faces in tree trunks and curious surprises such as an old telephone embedded in the wood.
Two routes – one common goal
The group split into two routes at the Morgenbachtal Hut : While some chose the challenging donkey trail with rope protection to the Swiss House , others opted for a gentler ascent. Both paths led through the Morgenbachtal nature reserve, offering numerous panoramic viewpoints and vistas of the Rhine , Rheinstein Castle , the Mouse Tower , and surrounding vineyards.
After approximately 10 or 13 kilometers, all participants met at the Heiligkreuz forester's lodge, where they enjoyed a good meal and recharged their batteries. The final leg led across a suspension bridge – a highlight for many – before the bus safely brought the hiking group back to Groß-Gerau.
Thanks to the organizing team
The tour was characterized by good weather, varied scenery , and a great atmosphere. Special thanks went to the organizing team around Horst Nau and Ingrid Kämmerer, supported by Beate Bolbach and Harald Altwig, who had carefully prepared and led the hike.
