400 euros for renovations after a successful start to the year
The Repair Café in Griesheim has successfully started the year 2026 and combines sustainable commitment with social engagement: A total of 400 euros was donated for the renovation of the church roof of the Melanchthon parish.
Successful start with many repairs
At the first event of the year on January 17th, repairs were once again in full swing at the Melanchthon parish hall. While the volunteers worked on fixing broken appliances in the chapel, many visitors took the opportunity to chat over coffee and cake.
At the same time, Foodsharing Darmstadt distributed a large amount of food in the outdoor area, which attracted great interest.
The day's results are positive: Of a total of 50 registered devices, 31 were successfully repaired. This corresponds to a success rate of 62 percent.
Donations for the Melanchthon parish
The guests donated a total of 339 euros that day. The organizers rounded the amount up to 400 euros, so that the entire sum will go towards the roof renovation of the Melanchthon parish.
Dates for 2026 have been set
For the first time, all dates for the current year have been set in advance. The events will continue to take place at various locations, including the Melanchthon parish, the Luther parish, and St. Mary's Church.
The repair cafés take place every Saturday from 2 pm to 6 pm:
