Children and teenagers will present their self-developed play on stage at the community center on September 26th
The theater premiere in Bickenbach is scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 6 p.m. Children and teenagers from the Bickenbach Youth and Children's Services will perform the play "Welcome to Breuschreck Castle" at the community center. This is the municipality's third theater education project. Admission is free.
Under the direction of drama teacher Sabine Orthey, children in grades 4 to 7 have been working on the play since January. In addition to weekly rehearsals, extra rehearsal weekends were also on the schedule.
Theater premiere in Bickenbach addresses everyday school life
"Welcome to Breuschreck Castle" draws on experiences from everyday school life, blending humorous and thoughtful moments. The story centers on a chaotic class whose teachers are increasingly at a loss. Finally, the children are sent to the infamous Breuschreck Castle.
There, they must overcome various challenges and discover the importance of community. In the end, the play playfully leaves open the question of whether such a class trip might occasionally be beneficial for teachers as well.
Mayor Markus Hennemann particularly praises the children's collaborative work: "The children develop something of their own together, contribute their experiences and ideas, take on responsibility and experience what they can achieve as a community."
Bickenbach residents are also involved behind the scenes. Kamran and Arslan Ahmad handle the video and sound technology as well as providing assistance. Youth worker Patrik Ebbers takes care of organization and set design.
